Audition by Video/DVD
Engagement within the European Youth Dance Project

Nima Kiann’s dance Company Les Ballets Persans presents the 5th season of the European Youth Dance Project (EYDP). The project engages both professional and semiprofessional male and female dancers, offering a complete program of performance production, a varied repertory work, technical enhancement with focus on contemporary and classical training, master classes, cultural activities and more.

Professional and semiprofessional category dancers
Engagement within the EYDP includes two categories of professional and semiprofessional dancers. All engaged dancers of both categories will participate in company productions during the fall season 2009 or spring season 2010 (or both).

Professional Dancers
All company members engaged as professional dancers will have the opportunity to dance a principal role in one or more choreographies. All expenses related to their stay in Sweden will be covered by the Company. EYDP engages only male professional dancers during the fall season 2009 and both male and female professional dancers during spring season 2010.

Semiprofessional Dancers
Company members as semiprofessional dancers are to be considered as full company members participating in company productions and performances. The new training program of the company has been designed to improve these young dancers’ technical and performing skills. Semiprofessional dancers participate in the EYDP on their own expense. However the company will offer them an affordable participation package. Participation in the EYDP as semiprofessional dancer and taking part in the training and the technical enhancement program is free of charge.

The New Program
The 5th season of the European Youth Dance Project is offering a revised program including:

* Contemporary or classical daily classes with a strong pedagogical focus
* Daily rehearsals of choreographies for a dance production
* Performing in Company performances
* Master classes arranged by Les Ballets Persans
* Repertory work, in both classical and contemporary styles
* Out-of-studio activities such as visiting Dance Museum in Stockholm
* Picnics, sightseeing and other collective Company activities
* Award for the best effort as EYDP member

See the complete program and read more about the European Youth Dance Project at www.balletspersans.org.

The new dance productions created for the EYDP will include both neo-classical and contemporary choreographies. EYDP’s fall season 2009 and spring season 2010 will have a duration of approximately three months each:

* Fall Season 2009 (starting September 28th – ending December 18th)
* Spring Season 2010 (starting March 22nd – ending June 18th)

Master Classes & Repertory Seminar
7-19 December 2009

Last year students, semiprofessional and professional dancers from all countries are welcome to take part in an intensive international dance seminar ending the EYDP season during one or two weeks.

Les Ballets Persans organizes two weeks of master classes and repertory work for the participants in the European Youth Dance Project at the end of each season. These classes and workshops are included in the program of the EYDP but are going to be open even for other dancers, not participating in the EYDP.

Dancers will have the opportunity to work with renown ballet masters, dance instructors and choreographers during an intensive optional period of one or two weeks. Daily class of 1/half hours in the morning and a choreographic workshop in the afternoon lasting 3-4 hours are planned. Video is used to record a work in progress and an informal performance at the end of the second week will conclude the master classes and workshops on December 18th.

Master classes include both classical and contemporary techniques. Workshops are at first hand including the repertoire of Les Ballets Persans but also classical and contemporary choreographies from the Eastern as well as Western repertoire. Participants are required to be trained in classical and contemporary techniques. Registration is required. Only limited places are available for non EYDP members. Therefore it is advisable to apply as soon as possible.
